Xarkis

Xarkis (est. 2013) started off as a social experiment to test ideas of self-sufficiency, DIY practices and resilience, exploring communal identities in the midst of the global economic crisis which climaxed in Cyprus in 2013. Our mission is to foster collaborative knowledge exchange, nurture dialogue between people interested in socio-ecological change, and engage with local cultures, through participatory artistic practices. As a transdisciplinary team, we propose curating as an act of the commons, rooted in social and ecological practises and framed through care as a method. We facilitate and implement cultural, participatory and socio-ecological initiatives.
